Late Work

Robert Henry Graham’s late work was taken in some cases off of his studio wall shortly after his death. Works could be in progress or fully finished but all are dated to 2018 to when Graham died. Many are untitled or more correctly ‘not yet titled.’ Graham in his last years boldly explored the intersection of figuration and abstraction and revisited many of his earlier themes concerning African American identity and race issues.

Graham also explored many types of shapes for painting while adhering to his previously established method of mixing oil paint and oil stick on loose canvas rolls with grommets at the corners to hang the work.
